The Beth Israel Preschool recognizes the significant role it can play in establishing a framework through which Jewish experiences can be integrated into an enriching, child centered, art based preschool curriculum. Our program also offers young children the opportunity to become familiar with Jewish holidays, rituals, and Hebrew language in a preschool setting. We place an emphasis on the whole child and respect that all children learn in different ways. Each child’s ideas are nurtured, creating an environment that is conducive to developing independence and confidence, and inspiring creativity. Our integrated approach pays attention to the young child's physical skill development, self-expression, social skills, coping strategies, and cognitive learning, as well as his or her emotional adjustment and well being.

preschool2015-8The Beth Israel Preschool curriculum is designed to support children’s interests, and it is the teacher’s role to support that learning through investigations, experiences and activities. We see children as confident, capable and eager to learn. Children learn best by hands-on experiences that spark interest, curiosity and inquiry.

We serve the needs of young children by providing a child centered, developmentally appropriate environment that encourages positive self-esteem, social skills, coping strategies, self-expression, creativity and independence. Children are encouraged to think deeply as they create art, play with friends, read and write stories, dance, sing, and explore.

Families as Partners

preschool2015-4The relationship between child, family and teacher is the foundation for positive learning. Family participation is encouraged in all facets of the school community. Our families help with special activities and events working in partnership with the faculty to ensure a successful early childhood education experience.

Welcoming a New Generation to the Joys of Judaism our Tot Shabbat Services are geared towards preschool aged children and their families. Services are held the first Saturday of each month. This engaging, interactive service is lead by our Clergy and song leader Kim Schneiderman and is followed by a thematic craft project and Oneg (refreshments). The Tot Shabbats are a great time for families with young children to meet each other in a relaxed, positive Jewish environment.
