Youth Groups and Teen Programs

Our CBI community offers our teens a chance to connect, to grow, to celebrate their Judaism… and to just hang out.
High School students enrolled in our Religious School Program have the chance to engage with CBI leadership with rotating discussion groups and workshops… and to be leaders themselves as madrichm (paid teaching assistants).
And, because we understand that our teens are busy people, you don’t have to be enrolled in Religious School to enjoy
- regular dinners with the CBI clergy in their homes
- nationwide travel with an eye toward social justice
- youth group programs under the direction of our Youth and Family Programs Director, Sarah Rohr.

Shoresh (Roots)
For Kindergarten - Second Grade Students
In Shoresh (roots), our kindergarten–second graders are digging in for fun with CBI Date Nights and Havdalah Hangouts—planting the seeds of lifelong friendships.
Gezah (Trunks)
For Third - Fifth Grade Students
In Gezah (trunk), our third–fifth graders are no stumps! They’ll enjoy the same bonding as their Shoresh friends, while also getting programs specifically designed help them laugh and grow.
Anafim (Branches)
For Sixth and Seventh Grade Students
Sixth and seventh students in Anafim (branches) are ready to branch out—sorry, we couldn’t help ourselves!—with an eighth grade weekend at the coast and a seventh grade Shul-In, stretching into new adventures together.
PARTY (Portland Area Temple Youth)
For Eighth - Twelfth Grade Students
And our high schoolers? They’re in full bloom and ready to PARTY (by which we mean connecting and building community via Portland Area Temple Youth: an unbe-leaf-able opportunity for friendship, leadership, and joy).
