Sisterhood at CBI

At Congregation Beth Israel, WRJ/Beth Israel Sisterhood’s mission is to bring women together to support and benefit Congregation Beth Israel and the community by providing opportunities for friendship, service, spiritual growth, and learning.

WRJ/Beth Israel Sisterhood is a warm community of all who identify as women as well as those who identify as transgender, gender-queer, non-conforming, or non-binary.

Calling All Bakers!

Sisterhood traditionally provides the delicious homemade baked goods for the sweets table at the Rosh Hashanah Reception following morning services.

Please consider starting off the sweetness of the New Year for us all by baking delicious treats!

We will arrange sweets trays on Monday, September 22 afrom 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM in Blumauer Auditorium

Let us know if you want to help bake or plate!

If you are unable to bake, please consider a contribution to cover other costs for this event. You can click here to donate, or send a check to the CBI office, payable to Beth Israel Sisterhood, marked “Sisterhood Sweets.”

All contributions help us make the start of the new year extra sweet.

Sisterhood in Action

WRJ/Beth Israel Sisterhood is one of the liveliest groups at CBI.

We connect viamonthly socials, both on and off the CBI campus.

We bring speakers and interactive programs to the CBI community at large.

We work actively toward Social Justice, in conjunction with partners in the Portland area, CBI’s Social Action Committee, and Women of Reform Judaism.

Our Rosh Hashannah sweets table is a High Holidays treat for all, our annual Chanukah White Elephant Party is always a laugh, and each year our Sisterhood Shabbat offers a moving chance to celebrate our connections to each other and CBI.

We run a Judaica gift shop whose proceeds support CBI’s Religious School, and partner with Jewish Family and Child Service to run a Passover Seder each year for their Holocaust survivor clientele.

For all our many, many Sisterhood events, please see our WRJ/Beth Israel Sisterhood Calendar
