Adult Education and Lifelong Learning

The CBI community is committed to lifelong learning, with robust Adult Education programming that celebrates and explores Jewish life through conversations with prominent speakers, annual classes including Adult Hebrew, Adult B’nei Mitzvah, and Introduction to Reform Judaism, hands on exploration of Jewish Portland, weekly Torah Study with international scholars, and experiential learning through world travel.

Recent past speakers have included Erwin Chemerinsky, Dean of UC Berkely School of Law, musical artist Avi Hoffman, Yiddish scholar Susan Bronson,  Amanda Berman (pictured left), Founder and Executive Director of Zioness, virtuosic Israeli-Palestinian performers Duo Amal, and Scholar-in-Residence Cantor Evan Kent.

Adult Education Travel

Groups of CBI travelers have explored vibrant Jewish communities and long Jewish histories the world over with excursions to (among others): Cuba, Spain, Eastern Europe, and the American Southwest.

We don’t yet know where in the world we’ll be going next, but when we do we will announce both destination and sign up details here!
