Purim 5786

Monday, March 2 - Tuesday, March 3

Purim at CBI is a full-scale celebration: joyful, noisy, and just a little over the top. From adults laughing their way through our Purim Schpiel, to kids in full costume glory shaking groggers at our Religious School Celebration, and community members spreading sweetness by sending Mishloach Manot across Portland and beyond, there is more than enough fun for all!

For cheering brave Esther and clever Mordechai, booing the wicked Haman, and having a raucously joyful Purim with community, there is no better place than CBI.

WRJ/Beth Israel Sisterhood Mishloach Manot Fundraiser

Sweeten someone’s Purim by ordering Mishloach Manot from WRJ/Beth Israel Sisterhood! Each package features homemade hamantaschen and supports the work of WRJ/Beth Israel Sisterhood—truly a mitzvah you can taste. Orders must be placed by February 21, so don’t haman-tate.

Want to pitch in on the pre-Purim fun? Sisterhood is looking for volunteers to bake hamantaschen, assemble packages, and even help deliver them to friends and family. Let them know if you want to help!

Middle School Pre-Purim Spectacular

Saturday, February 28

Calling all sixth and seventh graders! Before the carnival doors open, we’re throwing a behind-the-scenes Purim spectacular just for you. Think big teamwork energy, hands-on setup, a little controlled chaos, and plenty of chances to mess around once the work is done.

We’ll build, arrange, and transform the space together—then celebrate with games, music, and that unbeatable “we did this” feeling.

Religious School Purim Celebration

Sunday, March 1

Pre-k through seventh graders: get your groggers ready to celebrate brave Queen Esther (yaaaaay!) and her clever Uncle Mordechai (yaaaaay)‘s defeat of the wicked Haman (booooo)! We’ll have a Purim parade, classic carnival, and then laugh so hard through a set with improv comedian Hayley Hall (Middle School) or performance by Leapin’ Louie Lichtenstein (Elementary School).

High schoolers: it’s work hard, play hard this Purim as we break down the carnival, then enjoy the comedic stylings of Hayley Hall

Disney’s Enchanted Purim Story Book Schpiel-LIVE!

Monday, March 2

Once upon a Purim (way back in 2021), the clergy, cast, and crew of CBI put together a magical schpiel for their whole community… on Zoom.

Now that we are joyfully together again, you can experience the wildly witty lyrics, and sing along in-person… an enchanted show and a wish come true!
