Education matters to us at CBI, and wow, did we ever prove it: at last weekend’s Back to School Night fundraiser, we raised a record-breaking $365,584 (and counting!).

This support ensures that everyone in our community, regardless of financial circumstances, can fully participate in Jewish education at Congregation Beth Israel. Whether they’re taking their first steps at The Jennie, learning the Aleph-Bet, practicing for their B’nei Mitzvah, or lobbying their senators with CBI’s Religious School, or attending one of our guest lectures or cultural events, our congregants never stop learning.
And we aren’t all business: under the direction of Michelle Gradow, our event committee put the fun in fundraiser. We enjoyed cocktails and snacks in Goodman Hall before touring the beautiful new Jennifer Barnum Luria Early Childhood Center and settling down for dinner.
We celebrated our Education Director, Ben Sandler‘s twenty year tenure at CBI–and the over 6,000 students he’s impacted–with the establishment of the Ben Sandler Religious Education Support Fund, which provides support for religious education at Congregation Beth Israel.
Then came the music: from our cantors and Artist-in-Residence Kim Schneiderman, from student singers Anna Rosicky and Aaron Geller, and from Michael Allen Harrison and Julianne Johnson.
Whew! No wonder we needed root beer floats at the night’s end…
